My mother brought the first group of Irish pilgrims over to Medjugorje back in the 80's and is still bring groups there today. She brought each one of her five children to the village over the years and so it was inevitable that I would return for the 30th anniversary of the apparitions even though I hadn't visited the place for over twenty years. Whilst there, I was commissioned to write a feature which was published in the Living section of the Sunday Independent. I also wrote a two-page feature for Women's Way and the Medjugorje Herald. A friend of mine bought this book in Ireland and she couldn't stop talking about it. So, I downloaded it. I normally don't write reviews but the book contains such beautiful, moving stories, I decided to write these few words..... I visited Medjugorje many years ago, and after reading the touching testimonies from so many people (some famous, some not), it brought back all the memories in the best of ways.... the peace, the friendship, the healing, the rejuvenation .... Maybe I will visit this special place again, who knows? But in the meantime I have this beautifully written book to remind me to be grateful for everything good in my life and to re-kindle my memories of this special place. I highly recommend this book!

Standing up to fear

I just finished reading Fine Feathered Friend by Kathleen Kovach. I really enjoyed getting into the world of bird rescue since I love birds. It was an interesting look into fears. Glenys's fear of birds had to be conquered in order for her to obtain something she really wanted. Another example of how God is in control and how life can take unexpected turns that result in our good. Loved the characters especially Gramps. I recommend this for a good read.

About the Author
Joan Crate was born in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, and was brought up with pride in her Indigenous heritage. She taught literature and creative writing at Red Deer College, Alberta, for over 20 years. Her first book of poetry, "Pale as Real Ladies: Poems for Pauline Johnson", has become a classic. Her first novel, "Breathing Water", was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Book Award (Canada) and the Books in Canada First Novel Award in 1989. She is a recipient of the Bliss Carman Award for Poetry and her last book of poetry, "SubUrban Legends", was awarded Book of the Year by the Writers Guild of Alberta. She lives with her family in Calgary.

Nick's saga began in 1998 when chronic pain began to spread throughout his body. Three years later he was correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease, but the journey had just begun. Over the course of the next decade he experienced both remarkable recoveries and heartbreaking setbacks, all of which taught him many influential lessons. Dispersed between each chapter about Lyme disease is a chapter from the cross-country trips he took when he was well enough to travel the highways of North America. A Validating Story

Nick Vittas can write imagery. I felt like I was reading James Michener’s “The Drifters.” In terms of the writing style and people seeking to identify/define something about their lives. I don’t know how it’s gone about, but someone ought to nominate Mr. Vittas’ book for some sort of award, if not a Pulitzer or more.

I guess it’s a common theme... people struggling in their search for answers. The journey through time and space to find a doctor with Lyme literacy. I appreciated the Taoist approach to coping with illness. As the family member in support of a Lyme patient, I recognized Mr. Vittas' Taoist approach to his journey as a central theme in my ten years of psychotherapy for coping with PTSD. I found “American Bread” to be a useful refresher for my own coping skills.

I pray that with the advent of universal healthcare Lyme disease testing and treatment will cease to be a taboo subject in mainstream medicine.

Mr. Vittas' book is an important tool in coping with the healing path of Lyme disease.

This is a marvelous book. The descriptions of the places he visits and the characters he meets along the way remind me of why I so much enjoy travel and good travel literature. But this book is also something more. The author's experiences with chronic disease and it's impact on his life, described with both humor and pathos, inform his travels and enables him to experience and describe "the road" in a very original and insightful way. I highly recommend this book to all those who feel the call of the open road, and view travel not as a seeing of sights, but as an ongoing lifetime search for adventure and wisdom.

This book is written in a humorous voice that many people will connect to. There were times I actually laughed out loud, which is rare. But I feel that the best books in the world have the ability to reach down into your soul and touch you, changing you in the process. There are times when this book does that.

An incredibly useful book for all storytellers, The Complete Guide To Writing A Successful Screenplay is a book that is both an instruction manual and toolbox for the writing, format, development, story, sales, and every consideration one needs to make when writing a screenplay. The piece is a reference manual for creating compelling, high interest texts that (just so happen to fit the screenplay genre in this book but...) can be applied to a great deal of other writing as well. Readers can expect to find everything they need to format their script, create compelling settings, action, dialogue, and characters, understand their legal rights and responsibilities, and find someone to represent them and produce a great film.

A few important notes about the book are that it may be read cover to cover as a screenwriting course, or can be referenced throughout at specific portions as mini lessons or reminders of how to complete certain tasks. Furthermore, the authors of the text included a great deal of very helpful online resources and links as further examples of the concepts presented such as where to download script formats, popular Hollywood scripts, and where to do research for your work, among other things.

When I first skimmed the beginning pages of the book and wanted to read more when I saw the numbers. $3.25 million for writing a screenplay? I was hooked and motivated to learn how to turn my writing from merely a hobby into a successful career.

The Complete Guide to Writing a Successful Screenplay by Melissa Samaroo is a must-have handbook for all beginning screenwriters. Samaroo lays out the screenwriting process in clear, easy-to-follow steps, giving practical advice and examples throughout. Readers of The Complete Guide to Writing a Successful Screenplay will learn everything from how to think like a screenwriter; to analyzing movies and scripts; to developing characters, plots, and themes; and of course how to market and sell your script.

The book is easy to understand, with practical examples that and advice that can be put to use immediately to improve your writing. Ms. Samaroo breaks down the process into manageable stops. This book could replace the majority of college-level screenwriting textbooks. The wealth of information is astounding.

I found myself pulling out an old screenplay I had written many years ago in college, and re-writing entire scenes as I read the book. I found Ms. Samaroo’s advice on reading already-produced screenplays extremely helpful. That exercise alone gave me insider insight that I didn’t have before.

As I closed the book after reading the last word of the last chapter, I reflected upon the book’s cover. The movie crew in the background, and the smiling scriptwriter holding a manuscript in the foreground, inspired and empowered me want to make that picture my own—to visualize myself in the place of the content model on the book’s cover.

Samaroo discusses everything from Hollywood/audience expectations, to developing plot and characters, to finding an agent and selling a script. The process of writing a screenplay is laid out in detail, with supporting examples that any reader could relate to.

The cover of the guide sets the mood. The colors chosen are professional and clean, the model is smiling, and there is a crew in the background. All of these elements scream success—the very thing the reader is trying to achieve. And which Samaroo is trying to sell between the covers of this book.

This book covers a broad spectrum of stuff relating to the phenomenon we recognize as magnetism/electromagnetism. It will be very useful to students or anyone else who wants to know about magnets/magnetic materials. a very good book covering modern magnetics

I just got this book and have not get chance to read it carefully. I would like to talk about my first impression:

1. Very up-to-date topics can be found here, such as introduction to domain wall logic, Datta-Das transistor and spin-hall effect.
2. Very informative figures and pictures! I know everyone knows how Fert and Grünberg look, but it is very nice to see a real photo of Wohlfarth- yes, the guy in the stoner-wohlfarth particle.
3. The contents well suit experimentalists. If you get bored with Chikazumi , this book will fresh you up.
