A new approach to learn physiology

I am an Internist with special interest in Critical Care & Pulmonary Medicine, I am also involved in teaching. I literally have reviewed almost every physiology text that has been published in the last 20 years. Most are quantitative and not conceptual. This is a very unique approach that I really like. Dr. Munis has deliberately chosen an idiosyncratic and non-traditional approach. It emphasizes fundamental concepts that are wrapped around interesting stories and numerous custom images printed on high quality paper. The book is essentially a group of tutorials written in bite sized chunks and in a conversational mode. Once I started reading, I could not put it down . I particularly like the emphasis throughout on understanding difficult concepts with non-medical examples. The book has been specially designed to optimize your learning of cardio-pulmonary physiology. The book has been edited by a team experienced in academic medicine . As noted , the writing is vivid and engaging ( very rare physiology texts !) . I highly recommend the book for M1,M2 and M3 students. A must read for M4 students in Critical Care and Anesthesiology electives. Additionally I think that the book will also be very useful to students in Biomedical Sciences Physician Assistant Programs, Respiratory Therapists and CRNAs. I hope that the author can expand the book to other body systems.
